Ada County Highway District launches construction of new traffic Operations Center

The Ada County Highway District broke ground on its new Traffic Operations Center.

The new center is located on Franklin Road in West Boise. There will be three buildings on the site: an office building (25,000 sq. ft.), a warehouse (2,000 sq. ft.) and a covered shop (2,000 sq. ft.).

The new construction will house over 55 employees.

The Deputy Director of Development and Technical Services for ACHD, Ryan Hadd, explained how important this new center is and how it will affect the community.

"While today, it's an empty lot and a pile of dirt, it will soon transform into a central hub for traffic operations...The 55 employees I mentioned earlier that will report to this facility span several departments." Hadd continued, "These are the people who fix the signals when they're not working properly, the ones who paint the lines on the street, the ones who make sure the roads are built properly, the ones who ensure day-to-day that you are safe."

Several new facilities plans are in the works for ACHD, including maintenance complexes on Apple and U-Stick.
